Orangutan - On the Tree Top

Caught this Orangutan high on the tree top. If you noticed carefully, the little pair of legs on the shoulder belongs to a baby Orangutan.

Do you still recognize who this is?
It's "Ah Meng" the Orangutan. AhMeng used to be the Singapore Zoo's living mascot, until it passed away in 2008. This is the steel statue located at the Singapore Zoo, in memory of AhMeng.

Malaysia Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers

This is Malaysia's Twin Towers, located at Kuala Lumpur state. The movie Entrapment (1999) staring Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones, used this as one of their shooting scenes. Check out my other photos at Kuala Lumpur here.

What Species of Deer is this?

The earliest known turtles date from 215 million years ago, making turtles one of the oldest reptile groups and a more ancient group than lizards and snakes. Check out the previous post of a close-up of the turtle shell here.

Have you ever seen the flower of the banana? Here it is, and it's a nice pinky flower. Banana is my favorite fruit :)
Setting Different Shutter Speeds can Create Different Effect

The first photo was captured using a very slow shutter speed, whereas the second one was taken with a faster shutter speed. You can see straight away the different kind of effect and mood each setting you can create.

Spotted a mouse deer somewhere inside the vegetation. This type of deer does not have antlers on their head.

Devil on the Treetop - Cottontop Tamarin Monkey

It has a rather devilish face here. This is the Cottontop Tamarin Monkey. It's a small monkey, about the size of a squirrel. It feeds mainly on insects and fruit.

I find this photo rather adorable. Found this baby Orangutan idling lazily on the tree top, so tried to find a better angle to bring the feeling out. I have achieved a cute photo, haven't I? =)
Singapore Zoo - Komodo Dragon

A close up on the Komodo Dragon, a native lizard from the Indonesia. This big lizard, yes big, can grow up to an average length of 2 to 3 meters! The weight can go up to 70Kg. The Komodo Dragon feeds by biting off huge chunk of meat off its prey and swallows the whole down its throat.
The deadliest part is not its massive size or strength, but its saliva. One drop of the saliva contains 50 different bacteria. A bitten victim may escape being a meal of the Komodo Dragon, may not escape from the deadly infection due to the bacteria. This can result in death.
This photo was taken in the Singapore Zoo. Notice that long drool of saliva hanging by the edge of its mouth? ;)
